This family oriented clay workshop, conducted by teaching artist Phillip Romero, is designed for families to learn about sculpting clay, have fun and get their hands muddy, while creating a keepsake. Clay is one of the earth's more abundant materials and it's a brilliant and fun way to get back to basics, while also being creative and making things in 3D form.
Learn how to create a Retablo, or small devotional image on metal, with Teaching Artist Ivan Calderon. You will also learn about EPMA’s Retablo collection, and take a close look at the symbolism behind two retablos: N.S. de la Cueva Santa and St. Hedwig of Poland. This class is designed for ages 13 and up, no prior experience necessary.
Explore EPMA’s permanent collection with free downloadable coloring pages and art activities designed for all family members. Dive into the world of traditional art, use your creativity to turn the black and white pages into colorful art pieces. These activities will allow families to enjoy a museum experience from home.
