Leo Villareal, Lightscape, 2002, Edition of 10, LEDs, wood, diffusion material, custom software, and electrical hardware. 85 x 122 x 9 in. El Paso Museum of Art, Gift of Jereann and Holland Chaney, 2020.3.
In conjunction with the illumination of Star Ceiling (El Paso), the El Paso Museum of Art is excited to present Leo Villareal: Illuminated, an exhibition featuring works by the artist from El Paso collections.
Known for his large-scale installations in San Francisco, London, and Tokyo, and now El Paso, the sample of works presented in Hoy Gallery offer a more intimate experience for visitors to encounter Villareal’s creative process. In this gallery, we can see up close how pixels and binary code are used to craft intricate, rhythmic compositions in light.
