Owen Schwab is a new media artist and designer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His practice reflects his fascination for the interplay of technology in the built environment and personal relationships.
His interactive artwork, Group Theremin, is an audio-visual installation that uses ultrasonic sensors to generate synth-like audio and LED animations. In his work, Schwab references towering cell phone structures found throughout the Southwest. The installation allows viewers to interact with the invisible frequencies produced by the artwork, and allow for a more intimate experience with frequencies that silently fill the air around us.
