This selection of 22 works continues the celebration of art from the borderlands and starts a dialogue with other artworks on view at EPMA. Selections focus on textile works and potential additions to EPMA’s permanent collection. Several fiber-based artworks provide a border perspective to accompany the traveling exhibition A Beautiful Mess: Weavers & Knotters of the Vanguard, on view in the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Gallery from May 16 – August 18, 2024. Other works displayed are in current consideration to enhance the museum’s Contemporary Art collection and fill in representational gaps by individuals historically underrepresented in museums.
Participating Artists: Haydee Alonso, hazel batrezchavez, Mona Bozorgi, Pico Del Hierro-Villa, Nereida Dusten, Nortejiendo: Isis Estrada Rascón, Laura María Acosta Navarro, Natalia Barragán Orozco, and Oscar Francisco Solis Rodríguez, Andres Payan Estrada, Carissa Samaniego, Eric Manuel Santoscoy-Mckillip, George Strasburger
