The Transborder Biennial 2018 is unique in the world by featuring juried work from artists living two hundred miles north and two hundred miles south of the entire length of the US-Mexico border. Notably as well, the Transborder Biennial 2018 is a collaborative venture with our sister institution across the border, the Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez (MACJ); each American and Mexican artist selected will have one work on exhibit at EPMA and a second work simultaneously on view at MACJ. For this special fifth Transborder Biennial 2018, artists submitted on the transborder theme, whether directly through subjects such as immigration or economics or in broader terms such as personal and cultural identities within the multifaceted border region. This year’s jurors are Gilbert Vicario, Selig Family Chief Curator of the Phoenix Art Museum, and Carlos E. Palacios, Curator of the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City.
Support for this exhibition is provided by BBVA Compass and Texas Commission on the Arts. What's Happening
