WELCOME TO DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (DAY OF THE DEAD)!
The City of El Paso invites the community to celebrate Día de Los Muertos with performances, hands-on activities, a special artist and farmers market, themed streetcar rides, and a parade in the Downtown Arts District from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.
The Día de Los Muertos event represents a collaboration between the City of El Paso’s Museums, Cultural Affairs Department, and Streetcar. The El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA), the El Paso Museum of History (EPMH), and the El Paso Museum of Archaeology (EPMArch) will host a variety of free hands-on activities and live performances. Visitors can also enjoy the parade at 4 p.m. featuring local performers, community floats, and larger-than-life marionettes.
Visitors are also encouraged to dress up and wear Día de Los Muertos costumes and Calavera face paint. Masks are encouraged inside City of El Paso facilities, including the El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of History, El Paso Museum of Archaeology. Masks are required on the streetcar.
