Join us for this year’s Winterfest family day based on Leo Villareal’s work. Born in 1967 in Albuquerque, artist Leo Villareal is internationally known for activating space with light. Currently based in New York, Villareal was raised in the West Texas desert region of El Paso/Juárez, to which earlier minimalist artists Donald Judd and Dan Flavin gravitated, making sculptures—sometimes involving light—that explored how we perceive objects in space.
