From 1941 to 1946, El Paso-native Tom Lea served as a World War II eyewitness artist correspondent for Life magazine, becoming the only painter on the frontlines to depict the carnage of the war. This exhibition features nearly thirty oil paintings, watercolor illustrations, and original preparatory drawings from the renowned World War II art collection at the U.S. Army Center of Military History at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, as well as key pieces from EPMA’s significant collection of works by Lea.
