Andrew Colopy is Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Rice University School of Architecture, where his research and teaching examine the intersection of technology, architectural theory and practice. He also leads Construct, the school’s design-build program. Partner of Cobalt Office, Colopy has realized buildings for art and education, housing and urban environments. Cobalt has recently completed multifamily housing projects in Houston with more underway in Texas, Maryland and North Carolina. Colopy was previously a senior designer with DS+R, a fellow at Van Alen Institute, a contributing editor of the journal Praxis, and taught at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a licensed architect and graduate of Ohio State and Columbia University.
Director of Rice Architecture Construct, Colopy will discuss the design-build program’s ADU research and design work, including Houston’s first net-zero ADU, along with recent multifamily housing projects from his practice, Cobalt Office.
