Jennifer Bonner will present her work at MALL, a creative design practice that explores materiality, constructability, and conceptually driven ideas. MALL’s approach often begins with playful prompts—drawing inspiration from candy, sandwiches, hats, and other non-architectural elements. Through collections of models, dollhouses, exhibitions, and architectural drawings, Bonner will illustrate how these ideas translate into construction details and material innovations. She will discuss her first built project, Haus Gables—a single-family home in Atlanta, Georgia, constructed in just 14 days using 87 uniquely cut cross-laminated timber panels. Her talk will also cover Kate’s House (currently under construction), a precast tower in Atlanta, ADUs in Los Angeles, and the experimental X-Houses project.
Jennifer Bonner, founder of MALL, holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University. She is known for her innovative use of sustainable materials, particularly mass timber, panelized, and precast tilt-up concrete systems, pushing the boundaries of traditional construction methods. Bonner has received numerous accolades, including the 2021 United States Artist Fellowship, the Architectural League Prize, and the Progressive Architecture Award. Her work has been featured in publications like Architectural Review, Metropolis Magazine, and Domus, and exhibited at prestigious venues such as the National Building Museum and the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art. Bonner has also taught at Harvard, Georgia Institute of Technology, Woodbury University, and Auburn University, and her early thesis project, the Cedar Pavilion, won the AR Award for Emerging Architecture in 2005.
